June/ July 2009    This month we have been approached by several clients looking to remodel bathrooms, add vanity cabinets, or install more extensive bathroom and dressing room cabinetry.   A cabinet we built for one of these projects and a design for another vanity cabinet are featured below.   If you have any comments, suggestions, or would like to contribute to this newsletter, please contact me at kirk@fredendallbuilding.com

Bathroom Vanity
___________________________

Below is a vanity cabinet we built for a client as part of a bathroom remodeling project.  Set atop this cabinet is a Lacava vessel washbasin fitted with a brushed nickel Kohler Antique faucet.   The large, full extension drawers make efficient use of the space below the sink.   The drawers are built of laquered maple with dovetail joinery.   The top drawer is slotted to fit around the washbasin drain.

The cabinet is built of yellow poplar with mortise and tenon joinery and flat panels on the ends.  The cabinet is painted and topcoated with protective coats of polyurethane.  The drawer pulls were selected by the client to match new lighting fixtures in the room.

We designed a vanity pictured below for another client's powder room using the same concept of a large washbasin set atop a cabinet with a functional slotted drawer below.  This cabinet, however, is fitted with paneled doors instead of additional drawers.  This cabinet will be installed in an addition to an early 19th century farmhouse.   Kirk Fredendall
